Super Cannes are the latest addition to the LAZY GENIUS stable and a band in the old school mould, putting the quality and depth of their music before commercial success. Expert musicianship lies behind a beautiful dark and twisted sound, combining psychedelia, epic indie, and art rock. Described by BBC Merseyside's Dave Monks as 'A band you really have to listen to!' Super Cannes have been winning fans and critical acclaim across the region, playing venues like The Zanzibar, Heebie Jeebies and The Masque as well as The Matthew Street Fringe, Liverpool Music Week and Liverpool Sound City festivals. Influenced by everything from Radiohead and Pink Floyd to Aphex Twin and Joy Division their sound is a 'physical and shifting thing' (Liverpool Sound City) and draws you in immediately. These four charming musical troubadours are deserving of the commercial and critical success that is sure to come knocking...
The Skinny Boys
The music industry is a fickle one, we all know that, a continuous cycle of trends and pastiche, but then every now and again a band comes along that reignites your passion for the dark, cigarette stained, lager soaked dance floor indie rock and roll that we all can’t do without. The Skinny Boys are that band. Formed in 2007 after front man Brian and bassist Paul had a chance meeting in a music shop with guitarist Jonny, before recruiting drummer Nick to complete the line up, this Liverpool four piece write and play infectious, passionate, foot stomping indie rock and roll that will remain in your head for days.
With influences spanning decades, from The Who and Pink Floyd to The Killers and Kings of Leon, The Skinny Boys are taking up the mantle of truly great indie rock and roll and implanting it in our consciousness for 2011 and onwards. So put down that synthesizer, dust off your leather jacket, put on your dancing shoes and join the Skinny Boy Indie Rock and Roll revolution.
Get Back Colquitt
Get Back Colquitt are an Indie four piece from Liverpool, with more tunes than you can shake a glow stick at. Drunk at a festival, they formed in the fields of T in the Park back in June 2010. With dangerously infectious hooks and beautifully addictive melodies that have the energy of Mona and a nod to Bombay Bicycle Club, and after only a few months of being together the band received airplay on Radio 1. Over the last year they have supported Life In Film, Pete and the Pirates, The Twang and most recently Frankie and the Heartstrings at Liverpool Music Week. Releasing a series of demos for free download over the last 6 months, and building a significant fan base in the North West they are planning a EP release early next year. 2012 looks like being an extremely exciting year for GBC.
