Liverpool’s Tear Talk have been a favourite of ours since their earliest of days and the first time their moody, low-fi and beautifully atmospheric sounds dropped into our inbox. We took to them instantly and they graced Lazy Genius stages nearly years ago now. They are a band who have avoided the trap that so many fall into – rushing things.
Just like their music, their approach has been ponderous, aloof and fascinating. They released their debut 7″ single B R E A T HE in March 2013 which sold out amongst a plethora of critical and punter acclaim alike. You almost get the feeling that they have enjoyed keeping us all waiting.
February 2014 sees the release of their new EP – RUINS. Recorded with friends By The Sea at Liverpool’s prestigious Parr Street Studios, the track ‘Decades’ is to be taken from the E.P and released as the lead single on By The Sea’s own label, War Room Records. It is scheduled for release on the 9th of February 2015.
The first track on the record, Realise is being released a little earlier (January 19th) as part of a collaborative project between Tear Talk and Freakbeat Films, which aims to capture the prevailing sense of isolation in contemporary urban life. The video was shot on location in Liverpool and is haunting and beautifully shot. This is one of the reasons we love this band so much; in what is becoming a more and more depressingly trite and vacuous society they have real depth, both in emotion and creativity with Tear Talk seemingly to be about more than just music, but art in its truest sense.
The band will launch ‘Ruins’ in the ethereal surroundings of Liverpool’s Scandinavian Seamen’s Church on Saturday 31st of January 2015, with support from Death at Sea and Kingsley Chapman (of another LG favourite the Chapman Family)  and guest DJ sets from By the Sea and Astral Coast festival.
